Great for 3D Printing, Not Quiet, but Not Unpleasant Sound

This works great for my 3d Printer printing ASA.It is in no super quiet like a home air purifier but home air purifiers don't work for this application. I measured 68dB with the fan on high, sitting about 5 feet away.Even if you aren't venting outside, you will want to add the exhaust tube because it significantly muffles the fan sound. I usually run it on level 3 because it's a more pleasant sound when the fan is running at lower RPM and it gives the fumes more dwell time in the carbon filter. You don't want super high flow for VOCs on any filter. More dwell times gives the carbon time to absorb the fumes. on level 3 I measured 65dB. That may not seem like much difference but a 3dB change in volume represents a 50% reduction in power even if the human ear perceives 10db as half as loud.Since I don't have an enclosure I try to avoid being in the room while I'm printing ASA. Some fumes will inevitably escape the filter. I generally leave it running overnight while I'm printing in my office, and the room is completely free of smells and detectable VOCs in the morning when I turn off the fan and inspect my work.

Awesome unit out performed my expectations

I'm not one to usually write reviews but this product far exceeded my expectations. The quality is great the packaging was very sturdy. The function is next level. It truly kills all smell from soldering and heat shrinking. It is a bit loud but you can't move air without making noise. I find the lowest setting with the intake right above and slightly behind my work piece works very well. At the point of writing this I have over 20 hours on the unit no issues. 100% would recommend

Fantastic Machine... Well worth the money.

I have had the FumeClear FC-2002A fume extractor for about 5 days now. I wish there were more stars for me to use. It is by far and away the best extractor for my laser. I had two others... they were expensive JUNK that I returned... but this one meets and exceeds all my needs and expectations. My shop use to fill with wood burning smoke now you cannot even tell my laser is cutting. The size is very compact and it does not weigh a ton. It is a little noisy but no more so that the fan on the laser. I have been telling everyone about the quality of the machine and how its made a difference in my shop. I had a little scare.. I have been using it for about 15 hours and it stopped. However with just a quick read of the instructions... I found it to be a blown fuse... which they included and extra.... now... who does that. I was back up and running in minutes. The extractor has great suction and throws out nice clean air. As you can tell I highly recommend this unit for anyone with a laser.

Great Suction, Good Filtration, Nice Price

The suction is incredible! It's far better than the combined suction from the built-in exhaust fan on my laser cutter or the duct fan I've been using. And the filtration works! I actually put my face against the FumeClear exhaust and took some tentative breaths while it vacuumed the wood burning soot from a 40-watt laser cutter the air was decent. Now, I still vent outside, but I think you probably could use this completely indoors if needed. I don't recommend indoor venting because there are plenty of harmful VOCs that you can't smell, but this fume extractor removed everything I could smell and had no visible exhaust. The cotton pre-filters are a must because they trap a ton of particulate dust, and I found that I can clean them for reuse with my home vacuum cleaner. But make sure to use a *good* vacuum when I used my stick vacuum on the cotton filter, suddenly my office was filled with the burnt wood smell that the FumeClear had prevented. So clearly this filter works and works well, especially for the $500 price tag I paid.

Small welding shop = decent performance!

I bought this fume extractor for a small garage based welding and fabricating business. I do some heavy work form time to time and in the first few hours of service, this thing definitely works well for what I need it for. Its small so the filters clog up quickly and I expected that. The surface area of the pre-filter is barely 1 square foot, but it's enough. I did cut some cardboard to increase the size of the duct horn and I mounted it horizontally on a shelf above my bench so it's out of the way. In use, when the pre-filter became clogged, the suction alarm sounded to alert me to change the filter. Overall, I'm impressed with the initial performance. Longevity on the unit, especially installed horizontally, is yet to be determined.

Works for a 60W laser cutter

Pretty quiet, similar to a loud white noise machine or kitchen hood on full. Using for a 60W laser cutter and seems to keep up. So pretty happy with it

Plenty of power for an open laser

FANTASTIC! I use this for a laser engraver that's open. This has plenty of power to suck the smoke and fumes right out of the air. Much better than the one that came with the laser.

FC-2002 Fume Extractor

I bought my fume extractor right after buying my X tool F1 Ultra. I did extensive research of fume extractors. This one appeared to be a great fume extractor at any price. X tools Fume Extractor is a $1000. I saved so much money buying this fume extractor and in my opinion, getting everything I needed. I've proven myself right. Alltogether, i've all my dealings with the fine folks at Fumeclear have always been positive, while caring responses.
I would never hesitate to recommend their products to anyone. When I start going to more laser shows and get my Eufymake E1 Printer. I will definitely be back for more!

Good so far

I tested the first filter with a small welding job. It is not meant for it but it did work. This is much better suited to a 30w laser.

Works great

I had this hooked up to my 10w enclosed laser engraver and it worked well removing the smoke and smell from my machine. Now I use this connected to my airbrush booth and it also works well for this!

Works good!

Laser engraving with 40w laser. Have done multiple cuts with zero smoke. However, you will still have a little bit of smell. I have an ozone generator that I plan on running after I have vacated the room. This unit comes with a few prefilters which I imagine get clogged pretty quick. It looks like replacement filters are on back order so I'm hoping they are available when I need them.Great for the price considering anything that does better costs double.

Genuinely surprised how much it helps.

It doesn't eliminate all the smell, but my garage is clear of smoke when I run this connected to my laser enclosure. Best of all fumes, smoke, soot aren't leaking into the house. My wife and family are very appreciative. After reading reviews on various similar units, I had limited hope that one of these type of units would help. However, I was very surprised how well it does. I don't have to wear a mask while my Longer Ray5 20W is running. Worth the investment.

Surprisingly good!

I was not expecting this level of quality. This is actually well made and the electronic controls were a big plus. In fact, it seemed a bit over-designed. Overall, the suction is good for general laser engraving and cutting 3mm plywood, and the multiple filters held up well. It’s built like a tank and delivered on the listing promise. I should note, this would not be big enough for laser cutting 1/2” wood, but that is beyond the scope of this product anyways. The duct is sturdy and moves to where you need it and how thoughtful they were to include silicone intakes which help if this is for soldering as spatter will not stick to it and ruin the tube. Overall, this is a great value for the money. Very happy.

Works great

I wish the unit was easier to connect to my xtool D1 pro laser engraver, yet I was able to connect the hose from the enclosure to your hose using electrical tape to seal off the hoses. Works great and no smoke smell in my shop at all. Thanks

I recently got a laser engraver and while I love making things with the engraver, the smoke/fumes that happen during engraving can be a bit much at times. I already knew prior to starting that I should be in a fairly well ventilated room, but even still it can be a bit much at times. I built a small enclosure for the engraver and while that helped a bit, it was still an issue. When I came across this fume extractor I had my doubts at first but it also sounded like the exact solution I needed. Helps a lot with the fumes and smoke, knocks down the smell immensely. About as loud as a handheld vacuum when running. I don't use the engraver all too often and haven't had to change out the filters yet. However, I did remove them after a few weeks just to check and they seemed like they were still in really great shape. Works well, a bit on the pricier side but helpful nonetheless.

Works good, but not so good for Xtool S1 Laser Cutter

Good for small smoke and fumes, but not for Xtool S1 laser cutter. I am buying a larger one, that Xtool recommends, It cost over $700 but might be worth it. Have n ot tried it yet. But I will still keep this small one for smaller jobs, soldering etc..

My unit had come with a tube that was too large for the attachment site,.. Company responded quickly and sent another, which was unfortunately the same size larger tube. Company again responded quickly and sent one directly from Hong Kong,.. wait time was a bit longer but this time was the correct tube, they also sent me additional filter for the inconvenience,..
As for the unit itself,.. for my application works great!! no smells intruding into my living space,... NICE!!
It is a bit loud,. but no big deal to me. I use this for extracting fumes from 20 watt laser engraving machine.
THANK YOU Fumeclear!!!

Really happy with the product for the price I paid. Strong suction and comes with extra filters. Great product for my use.

It works good without a lot of extra noise in my workshop, but the suction barely keeps up with my 20 watt diode laser engraver. I typically use 1 by pine board to make signs and it puts off quite a bit of smoke and smell. This will get rid of the smoke, but a lot of the smell is still in the air. So I am not sure exactly how much this filters the fumes. I will keep it around and see if I may be able to make some improvements to my setup for a more direct pull of suction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of machines can the FumeClear®FC-2002 be used with?

The FC-2002 fume extractor is designed for light-to-medium smoke applications, including laser engravers up to 20 W, soldering, resin 3D printing, and craft workshops.

It provides 153 CFM of focused suction power — ideal for light engraving on wood, leather, and coated plastics.

For heavy-smoke materials such as acrylic or MDF deep cutting, we recommend upgrading to FumeClear FC-350 or XL Series, which offer higher airflow and larger activated-carbon filters for dense odor
removal.

Does FC-2002 work with laser engraving machines such as F1/S1/M1/D1 Pro?

Of course! The FC2002 fume extractor is very suitable for laser engravers with 10-20W laser power. Its 260m³/h air
intake ensures complete absorption of the fumes generated during laser engraving.

What’s the difference between FumeClear® FC-2002 and FC-2002A?

The main difference is that the FC-2002A includes an external exhaust hose, allowing you to vent the filtered air outside — a feature often required by schools, labs, or public institutions to meet air-safety standards.

Visually, the FC-2002 comes in classic silver, while the FC-2002A features a black finish for easy model distinction.
